Cooperation Penn Medicine/Institute of Cardiology, Abidjan (Ivory Coast)

Initiated a partnership program with the University of Pennsylvania Health System (Penn Medicine) in collaboration with the African Caribbean Business Council of Philadelphia and the Ivory Coast Chamber of Commerce. Penn Medicine is a major multi-hospital health system headquartered in Philadelphia that has pioneered medical frontiers with a staff comprised of innovators who have dedicated their lives to advancing medicine through excellence in education, research and patient care. The cooperation is around 2 key areas:

  • Short-term: Internships/Shadowing/Residency
    Provide select cardiology students and physicians the opportunity to have internships/residency at Penn Medicine. In parallel, allow select physicians to shadow their peers at Penn Med.
  • Mid to Long term: Training and Capacity building
    Partner with Penn Medicine and the “Institut of Cardiologie d’Abidjan” to apply for a NIH Research and Training Fogarty Grant as a south/south/north partnership (Ivory Coast/Cameroon/Penn Medicine).
